Anthony Reynolds: A Small Spit of Land

Just a quick reminder that one of Wales’ best ever songwriters, Anthony Reynolds, is doing a show at Chapter Arts Centre on Saturday, December 10 (at 8pm). Entitled Anthony Reynolds: A Small Spit of Land, this work in progress will feature a song cycle based around the singer’s upbringing in the capital city during the ‘70s and ‘80s. This might sound like self-indulgence but a strong sense of personal mythology has always pervaded Reynolds’ work - it’s a trait that puts him firmly in the Jacques Brel and Scott Walker grand tradition of balladeers. We are promised a low-key and intimate performance with possible guest appearances. Also an accomplished writer, Reynolds is the author of biographies on Leonard Cohen and The Walker Brothers. He has recently been adding his vocal talents to a musical production about Sigmund Freud. Tickets for Anthony Reynolds: A Small Spit of Land cost just £6 which, in these dark days of economic recession, is an absolute bargain.
